Leverburgh
WiFi Network - File Back-Up***
Leverburgh WiFi Network is run on a not-for-profit
basis for the benefit of the community. Primarily it was created
to provide an alternative to the poor internet services available
using our rather old telephone exchange. On average this exchange
allows connection at 33kbps but commonly it only just meets the
legal requirement of 26kbps. This is really only identified by using monitoring software while downloading larger files. The ONLY time you really notice is when you have used a good connection such as ours.
We have decided to offer only one package to home users (for business users we have various solutions). The Leverburgh WiFi connection can run at up to 2mb. We are currently installing a shared fileserver so that we can offer storage space for your downloads. However we will initially only be able to offer in the region of 1gig per user.
We have therefore decided to offer users the ability to transfer their files over to CD or DVD. We understand that many users will have access to CD/DVD writers but this service is to be used in conjunction with our file download service.
Using the two services together you can book large downloads, have them burnt to CD/DVD. This method has many advantages but the most obvious three are that:
1. You have a security back-up of your files.
2. You have no need to leave your machine downloading for hours.
3. Your file will be downloaded when the network is not busy ensuring that you have maximum speeds.
