Leverburgh WiFi Network - Available Now
Leverburgh WiFi Network is available to order NOW and can be installed immediately.
The main connection has been tested and all seems to be fine, secondary multiple backhauls will soon be in place to ensure a reasonable speed at all times.
We are now in the happy position of being able to offer a wireless
service to the area of Leverburgh. We are currently the ONLY alternative to
a 56k dial-up connection. The only other company which seems to be moving forward
has projected that they will not be ready until the end of the summer 2004.

We are also in the lucky position of being the only service provider in the area that can offer broadband speeds. After reading an article on the Ofcom web site we have realised that the long awaited Connected Communities project will not be allowed to operate where they may conflict with ourselves.
Furthermore, after correspondence with Calum MacDonald M.P. and BT it appears that the Leverburgh exchange will not be able to be upgraded to ADSL due to costs estimated by BT to be in the region of £500,000 (letter available for viewing upon request). Though things may have changed since the letter we shall wait and see. One thing that can not be denied is the restricted service supplied by BT Broadband which currently has download restrictions in place which mean that over the period of a month more can be downloaded over dial-up. Currently Leverburgh WiFi has no such restrictions but this is subject to change and is governed by our fair use policy in the Terms and Conditions |
